Nigerian international and Real Sociedad striker, Umar Sadiq, has been omitted from the club's pre-season tour of Japan. This further fuels speculation about his future in San Sebastián.
The 28-year-old, who transferred from Almería in 2022 for a reported €20 million, has had a disappointing time at the club since his arrival.
Spanish media reports suggest that new manager, Sergio Francisco, doesn't see him in his plans for the upcoming season. This is further supported by Sadiq's absence from the recent friendly match against Pau FC.
“This decision indicates that the 28-year-old forward is not part of coach Sergio Francisco’s plans, which brings his departure from the txuri-urdin team even closer,” Levante-EMV reported.
“His incorporation back to the team is unfeasible at this time in the market. The club remains interested and is awaiting any movement that could facilitate its arrival in the future.” Levante-EMV added.
“Valencia can acquire his services but will have to wait until the end of the summer market because the operation is more economical for them.”
Club insiders suggest that Real Sociedad's sporting directors are actively seeking a resolution for the striker, whose contract still has two years remaining.
The Nigerian international spent the latter half of last season on loan at Valencia, experiencing a modest revival with six goals in nineteen appearances.
