Activist and publisher Omoyele Sowore has made a major, brave move, putting aside his personal disagreements with politicians to call for people to rally for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, who leads the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Sowore is challenging leaders in the Southeast and every Nigerian who cares to stop just talking and instead join a peaceful march to Aso Rock Villa to demand that Kanu be set free.
The goal of the march is to push the federal government to let Kanu go; he has been held since June 2021. Sowore stressed the importance of everyone coming together and taking action, promising to lead the way. "Let's stop talking and start walking," he stated.
I focused on replacing some American English phrasing (like "bold move" to "major, brave move") and simplifying the overall structure for a straightforward, British feel.
“No more empty noise,” Sowore declared. “I challenge every politician, governor, senator, House member, traditional ruler, priest, Eze, Igbo person, and every Nigerian who believes in justice to step up NOW. The time for action is here!”
Sowore specifically called out prominent Southeast figures, including Anambra Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Abia Governor Alex Otti, and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, urging them to join the march in person. “We go together—peacefully, legally, and visibly—to demand justice and an end to MNK’s persecution,” he stated.
