Court Sentences Nnamdi Kanu to Life Imprisonment for Terrorism
The Federal High Court in Abuja, overseen by Justice James Omotoso, has found Nnamdi Kanu guilty of terrorism. Mr. Kanu is the leader of the group known as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which is an outlawed (proscribed) organisation.
Mr. Kanu has been handed a life imprisonment sentence. This maximum penalty applies to Counts 4, 5, and 6 of the seven charges brought against him.
For a separate charge, Count 3, he was sentenced to a 20-year jail term.
This means Nnamdi Kanu will now serve life imprisonment following his conviction for terrorism charges.
