Meet CupidSZN: The Myth Era and Mavin's New Afropop Star

CupidSZN, whose real name is Stevenson Njoku Anyinachiso, is a rising Nigerian singer and songwriter.

CupidSZN Afropop singer

Born in Port Harcourt on January 19, 2004, he is currently twenty-one years old. He changed his stage name from his initials, NSA, to CupidSZN after a dream where people were shouting "Cupid."

He was inspired to make music after watching a Juice WRLD video. Although he first loved trap music, his father encouraged him to focus on Afrobeats, advising him that he needed to succeed in Nigeria before taking on the world. He taught himself Afrobeats, starting at just fourteen, by using music apps like Band Lab and recording over YouTube instrumentals, and he began posting freestyles in 2020. His sound is a sensual mix of Afropop and Afrobeats, similar to artists like Rema, Juice WRLD, and Michael Jackson.

After finishing secondary school, he boldly chose to skip university to pursue music full-time, even though his parents were not initially convinced. However, his persistence paid off, and by 2023, his entire family moved to Lagos to fully support his dream. His father, a musician himself, was a big supporter and once even messaged Don Jazzy about his talent, though it went unanswered at the time.

His hard work led him to the Mavin academy, and he was eventually signed to Mavin Records, one of Africa's top labels. In just over a year, he achieved more than 10 million career streams. Don Jazzy introduced CupidSZN as a Mavin artist with the release of his first EP, "Myth Era," in November 2025. Some of his well-known tracks include "Palava," "Zesty Money," "Famous," and "Finito."
