Nicki Minaj Thanks Trump in U.N. Speech... First Female Rapper to Address United Nations

Nicki Minaj made history on Tuesday by becoming the first female rapper to speak at the United Nations. During her address, she gave full credit to President Donald Trump for creating the opportunity.

Although the event was a cross-party one, the 'Pinkprint' superstar accepted the U.N. invitation to tackle the ongoing violence in Nigeria. Trump had previously claimed that Christians in the country were being killed simply for their beliefs.

Nicki confessed to feeling nervous at the start, speaking softly throughout her address, but she firmly demanded swift action to stop the killings.

She was invited by U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, after supporting Trump’s social media comments about Nigeria earlier in the month.

It is unclear why Trump specifically focused on Nigeria. BBC News quoted Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, who noted that people from "across faiths and regions" have experienced violence in the country, which has a roughly equal split of Christians and Muslims. CNN also reported on victims from both faiths enduring brutal attacks this year.

Regardless, we saw Nicki arriving at the building on Tuesday looking deep in thought. However, she found her rhythm, speaking as a proud New Yorker who hopes that African regions can enjoy the same religious freedom as people in the U.S.

Later in her speech, she thanked her loyal fanbase, the 'Barbz', for being her constant support, but she also made it clear that she is not taking any political sides.

Trump still maintains a warning for the Nigerian government, and Nicki continues to stand by that statement.
