The family of the renowned Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Innocent Idibia, known professionally as 2Baba, has lodged a formal complaint against his wife, Natasha Osawaru, an Edo State politician. The complaint centres on Natasha's alleged physical attacks on the singer and misuse of illegal drugs.
This action comes amid a series of ongoing public disputes concerning the couple, who only married a year ago.
NPO reported that 2Baba and Natasha were first highlighted this week after a video went viral showing the politician shouting at the singer inside a shopping centre in London.
Following this, reports surfaced detailing Natasha’s ongoing pattern of assaulting the singer, as well as her alleged control over his money and music career.
The formal document, dated November 12th and sent to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, lists six specific accusations made by the Idibia family. These include the physical attacks and drug misuse, alongside claims of financial wrongdoing, seizing 2Baba’s private possessions, and harming his public image.
The family has formally requested the Nigerian Police Force to intervene and investigate, stating that these events have caused 2Baba significant emotional suffering, financial difficulties, and public embarrassment.
The petition, as shared on X on Thursday, read in part; “We, the undersigned members of the Idibia family, write this petition to formally request the intervention of the Nigeria Police Force in investigating a series of disturbing incidents allegedly involving Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru and our son and brother, Mr. Ujah Idibia (aka 2Baba).
“Based on information and complaints brought to our attention by Mr. laibia and other concerned witnesses, the following issues have been raised for investigation:
“1. Alleged physical assault incidents in both the United Kingdom and Abuja by Miss Natasha Irabosa Osawaru to Mr. Innocent Idibia aka 2Baba.
2. Alleged unauthorized access and transfer of funds from Mr. Innocent Ujah Idibia’s phone and bank accounts by Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru.
3. Alleged seizure of personal property and travel documents, including his passport, preventing him from attending business engagements and performances.
4. Actions that have allegedly caused financial loss, reputational damage, and professional setbacks.
5. Substance abuse by Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru, allegedly resulting in violent behavior, causing Mr. Innocent Ujah Idibia (professionally known as 2Baba) emotional distress and financial loss.”
6. Information suggesting a possible violation of marriage laws (bigamy) and fraudulent misrepresentation, which we request be properly investigated to establish the facts.
“These incidents have reportedly caused Mr. Innocent Ujah Idibia severe emotional distress, financial hardship, and public embarrassment. More importantly, his personal safety and mental wellbeing appear to be at risk.”
