Actress Ogala Demands N1bn After Pastor Chris Breaks Wedding Promise

Nollywood actress and Actors Guild of Nigeria member, Ms. Doris Ogala, has sent a formal demand to Lagos pastor Chris Okafor, the founder of Grace Nation Liberation City. She is asking for N1 billion in damages because she claims he broke a promise to marry her.

The demand, dated 16 December 2025, was sent by her lawyers, Synergy Law Partners. The letter was sent to Pastor Okafor’s office in Ojodu Berger, warning that they will take him to court if he does not pay within 21 days.

According to the letter, Ogala claims that Pastor Okafor made a “clear, consistent and unequivocal” promise to marry her. She says this was the foundation of their long relationship, which started in 2017.

Her lawyers say the relationship began when the actress was going through a hard time emotionally and went to him for pastoral support. They claim the promise was not just spoken but was shown through his actions, such as introducing her to his family and taking her to family events.

The lawyers claim they have photos, videos, WhatsApp messages, and bank records to prove their case. Ogala also says she made big life changes because of the promise. For example, the letter claims she left a difficult marriage and gave up the chance to fix it because she believed she would marry the pastor.

The demand also mentions a large financial loss. Ogala claims she gave Pastor Okafor N45 million in one transaction and let him handle her money because she trusted his promise of marriage.

The problem started when Pastor Okafor publicly announced he was engaged to another woman. Her lawyers say this was a clear way of breaking his promise. They argue that this caused the actress great emotional pain and hurt her reputation as a famous person.

The letter also claims that Ogala has faced online bullying and public shaming because of the situation. They even accused the pastor of being responsible for private photos of her being shared without permission, though he has not yet replied to these claims.

While the lawyers admit that no one can be forced to marry, they argue that the law allows for compensation when a promise is broken. They are demanding N1 billion for the damage to her reputation and her emotional suffering.

If Pastor Okafor does not pay within 21 days, the lawyers say they will start a lawsuit in court. So far, the pastor and his legal team have not commented on the matter.
