Anthony Joshua Escapes Death in Horrific Nigeria Car Accident

On Monday, 29 December 2025, heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was involved in a fatal car accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, Nigeria.

While travelling in a convoy near the Sagamu Interchange, the Lexus SUV carrying Joshua suffered a tyre burst during an attempt to overtake another vehicle. This caused the driver to lose control and crash into a parked truck.

Tragically, two of his friends who were travelling with Joshua died at the scene. Joshua, who was sitting in the back seat, survived the crash with minor injuries. He was taken to a hospital in Lagos where he remains in a stable and conscious condition. The accident happened just ten days after his recent fight against Jake Paul, while he was visiting Nigeria for a holiday.
