Nigerian Afrobeat and pop artist Kokcii (real name Samuel Bassey Ekwa) has launched his new EP, titled "Kokcii Is the Vibe."

The US-based singer says the project showcases resilience, cultural identity, and his desire to share important messages through his music. Kokcii, who was born in Calabar Municipality, explained that the EP was inspired by his own life story and his determination to stay focused on his goals. He stated that the music "embodies resilience and an unwavering commitment to following my dreams."

The artist recently changed his stage name to Kokcii as a conscious decision to reconnect with his roots. He noted that Kokcii was his tribal childhood nickname, which reflects his cultural background and keeps him grounded while he creates music.

Regarding his sound, the singer mentioned that his music is influenced by instrumentals that stir up strong emotions.

In his words; “My music comes from a place of selflessness and spiritual guidance,” he said. “I express whatever the beat evokes in my heart.”

Since moving to the States, Kokcii says his music has been well-received, with fans in both Africa and the West understanding his message.
