The Honourable Jude Ozodinobi has given a strong and clear message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating firmly that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's ongoing imprisonment can no longer be seen as a political issue or something to be negotiated.
He said that the call for Kanu to be freed is not a simple request, a plea, or an appeal—it is a clear demand.
Speaking forcefully and confidently, Mr. Ozodinobi explained that keeping the IPOB leader detained for so long has caused a lot of stress, worry, and anger across the South-East region. He emphasised that freeing Kanu is essential for bringing peace back to the area.
In his words, “We are not appealing to the President. We are demanding the release of Nnamdi Kanu because justice delayed is justice denied. The continued detention is not helping the nation, and it is not helping the South-East.”
Mr. Ozodinobi pointed out that several courts have already ruled that Kanu should be released. He stressed that holding him in custody, despite these legal decisions, suggests a lack of respect for fairness and the rule of law.
He insisted that the government must honour court judgments and prioritise the unity of the nation.
