CAF President Patrice Motsepe has revealed that Nigerian star Burna Boy was held up at an airport in Morocco. The singer was on his way to perform at the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat when he ran into trouble.
Speaking at a press conference, Motsepe explained that customs officers stopped Burna Boy because of his jewellery.
The situation was eventually sorted out, but only after the CAF President stepped in personally to help.
“Recently was called that I need intervene because Burna Boy was stopped at the airport after customs officers noticed his heavy and beautiful gold jewellery. I intervened and it was resolved,” he said.
Burna Boy did eventually perform as the main act at the AFCON Fan Zone concert in Rabat on 16 January.
He wasn't the only star there; Stonebwoy from Ghana and Moroccan singers Stormy and Jaylann also took to the stage.
