The euphoria surrounding the music festival, Felabration 2026, continues as both established and emerging artistes take to the stage at the New Afrika Shrine and Freedom Park.

The annual live performances are aimed at celebrating the legacy of Afrobeat pioneer, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

On Saturday, the galala master, Daddy Showkey, along with other artistes, namely Muyeez and DJ Chicken, will entertain the crowd in the evening.

On Friday, October 16, Small Doctor, Goya Menor and others were on stage to thrill the audience. Femi Kuti and the Positive Force were, as always, present to add finesse and colour to the daily music show. The musician has a magical way with the saxophone and performs to the delight of hundreds of audience members at the New Afrika Shrine.

Earlier at the New Afrika Shrine in Lagos, opening acts, including Akin Ajayi, Ayorhskyfire, Femi G and Adeola Tenor, took turns to entertain the audience.

The performances provided a platform for the featured artistes to showcase their musical talents, enhancing the festival's atmosphere, which honours Fela's influence on music, culture and social commentary.

Also featured on the day's programme was the Kings and Queens Art Academy, organised courtesy of Yeni Kuti, alongside other music acts who contributed to the concert line-up.

According to the organisers, Yeni and Femi Kuti, Felabration, which winds up on Sunday, October 18, is more than a festival; it is a celebration of the life, music and legacy of the legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti. From the infectious Afrobeat rhythm to the vibrant expression of African culture, it is a space where creativity, freedom and self-expression come alive.

The week-long show, themed 'Who Are You', speaks of knowing oneself and one's roots and identity, and promotes originality and creativity. Planned programmes for the annual festival include a debate among secondary schools, a symposium and a fashion show by Lanre Da-Silva, among others.
