OAU Announces Resumption Date for 2026/2027 Academic Session

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has unveiled the schedule of activities for the commencement of the 2026/2027 academic session.

In a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, and obtained in Osogbo on Monday, the university said newly admitted students are expected to resume on "Sunday, November 1, 2026, while online registration will commence on Monday, November 2."

Olarewaju said, "An orientation programme to familiarise the fresh students with the university's academic environment, rules, regulations, traditions and expectations will hold from Monday, November 2, to Friday, November 6, 2026."

According to him, the programme is designed to offer the necessary guidance for the students' smooth transition into university life and to prepare them for the responsibilities and opportunities ahead.

The statement further disclosed that ICT training for the fresh students will hold from Monday, November 9, to Friday, November 13, 2026. The training is meant to equip them with essential digital skills and acquaint them with the ICT facilities and platforms that will support their academic activities.

"Returning undergraduate students are expected back on campus on Sunday, November 15, 2026, ahead of the commencement of lectures on Monday, November 16, 2026," the statement read.

The management urged both newly admitted and returning students to adhere to the schedule to ensure a seamless take-off of academic activities. It also advised parents, guardians and other stakeholders to provide the necessary support.

Welcoming the students, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Simeon Bamire, reaffirmed his commitment to providing an enabling environment for teaching, learning, research and character development, in keeping with the university's tradition of academic excellence.

He wished all the students a safe return and a productive session.
