Movie star Grace-Charis Bassey, formerly known as Belinda Effah, has finished her training at the U.S. Navy boot camp. She’s now a Sailor and a U.S. citizen.
The actress, who’s 35 years old and originally from Cross River, shared her story on Instagram. She posted photos and videos of herself in her Navy uniform at her graduation.
She said she dedicated this accomplishment to her late father, Naval Commander Asido Bassey Effah, who served in the Nigerian Navy.
In her post, Grace wrote: “First, All Glory To God. Last week, I graduated from U.S. Navy boot camp as a Sailor and took the oath as a citizen of the United States.
“This journey wasn’t easy — but I carried my roots, my faith, and my vision every step of the way.
“Thank you to everyone who believed in me. This is just the beginning.
“In Honor of my Late Father – Naval CDR Asido Bassey Effah.”
Grace, who changed her name from Belinda to Grace-Charis in 2021 after a spiritual experience, also mentioned that she joined the Navy choir, keeping up her creative side.
Grace has been in films like Kokomma and Miracle and won awards, including the Most Promising Act at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
