Nollywood actor Adeniyi Johnson caused a bit of a fuss online after expressing concern for his senior colleague, Afeez Owo, following Manchester City’s surprise defeat in a recent football match.
In a lighthearted but slightly panicky Instagram post, Johnson urged anyone near Afeez Owo to check on him, suggesting the actor was rather emotionally invested in the team’s performance.
“It is urgent, please. @officialafeezowo hope you’re okay sir?????!!!! @skelebe__ how far? elenu Pelebe
MAN CITY, how can you do this to my Oga?
If only some of you had seen his WhatsApp status the day BARCA lost to INTER… Baba, you go leave the internet for me, I promise,” Johnson wrote.
Afeez Owo promptly replied in the comments, reassuring fans and friends that he was alright, despite the team’s defeat.
“Hmmm, look at this man. Anyway, nothing do us. Up City,” he replied.
Johnson’s dramatic tone initially caused alarm amongst fans, with many taking his message seriously before they realised it was a football-related joke.
Some reactions included:
“Gosh! I was scared,” wrote one fan.
“My heart first cut ah,” added another.
“This is too alarming abeg,” commented Queenann5180.
“Please be careful, I was so scared,” Aradojo urged.
“You people should be taking this soccer thing easy o,” advised another fan.
One concerned follower, Senator Lateef Olanrewaju Idrees, added:
“I just screamed what could have happened to him. Please be mindful of the jokes you post. We really love you guys and don’t want anything bad to happen to you.”
