Atiku’s Aide Discusses Meeting Between Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi
In 2023, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar held a private meeting on Monday at Atiku’s Abuja residence.

In 2023, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar held a private meeting on Monday at Atiku’s Abuja residence.

Atiku’s Aide Discusses Meeting Between Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi
During this time, Peter Obi also separately met with former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, sparking speculation about a coalition for the 2027 general election.
Both Atiku and Obi ran together on the PDP joint ticket in 2019 but were defeated by former President Muhammadu Buhari of the APC. Following internal conflicts, Obi, who was Atiku’s running mate in 2019, left the PDP to run as the LP candidate in the 2023 presidential election.
Atiku’s media adviser, Paul Ibe, confirmed to The Punch that the meeting with Obi lasted about 20 minutes and hinted at the possibility of a coalition for the 2027 presidential election without disclosing further details to the media.
He stated, “Yes, Peter Obi visited Atiku Abubakar. They met for about 20 minutes behind closed doors, so we wouldn’t know what was said, and they didn’t disclose anything to us.
“Since Atiku Abubakar mentioned coalition discussions and such, I believe that both of them must have been engaged in dialogue. And I did mention that they wouldn’t be discussing it in the media. So, they have indeed been in discussions and it is just a matter of those discussions bearing fruit.
“Regarding the coalition talks, perhaps it is already underway. The possibility does exist.”

Biden Vows Not to Pardon Son or Reduce His Sentence
US President Joe Biden stated on Thursday that he will not pardon his son Hunter or reduce any sentence after Hunter’s conviction for lying about his drug addiction while purchasing a handgun.

US President Joe Biden stated on Thursday that he will not pardon his son Hunter or reduce any sentence after Hunter’s conviction for lying about his drug addiction while purchasing a handgun.
In his words;
“No,” Biden replied when reporters at a G7 summit press conference in Italy asked if he would commute any sentence that 54-year-old Hunter faces.
“I’m extremely proud of my son Hunter. He has overcome an addiction, he’s one of the brightest, most decent men I know,” Biden said.
“I said I’d abide by the jury decision. I will do that. I will not pardon him,” he said.
In a historic legal case, Hunter Biden, the son of a sitting US president, was found guilty by a jury on three felony counts related to his 2018 handgun purchase while battling addiction. Despite the possibility of a 25-year prison sentence, as a first-time offender, actual jail time is unlikely. The sentencing date has not been set but is anticipated to occur in the coming months.
Hunter Biden expressed his love for his surviving son following the verdict, emphasizing his respect for the jury’s decision. His remarks in Italy marked his initial public response to the outcome, following a trip to Wilmington, Delaware, where he was warmly greeted by his father, President Biden, prior to their departure in a motorcade.
This development unfolded amidst President Biden’s challenging re-election campaign against Donald Trump, who recently became the first former US president to be convicted as a felon.
Trump was convicted by a New York jury for violating election law by falsely declaring hush money payments to a porn star.
