Eedris Abdulkareem laments in trending song: “This one done pass jagajaga”

Listening to this new song can provide insight into the challenging circumstances faced by Nigeria and its people, even for those who are not native to the country.

The recently released satirical song, ‘Emilokan,’ is structured as an interview and commences with poignant images depicting hunger, distress, and adversity. The opening lyrics, “Emi lokan don turn ebi lokan…,” further emphasize the message conveyed in the song.

He brings up the issue of insecurity. “…imagine say na your grandchildren they kidnapped by soldiers for don scatter everywhere for Nigeria, common man no get money for ransom for his wife and children, after everything na kill dem go kill dem. See as naira dey fall against dollars, Emi lokan oti di ebi lokan and you say make we sacrifice for Nigeria…”

To clarify, Emi lokan is President Bola Tinubu’s campaign catchphrase, translating to “it’s my turn.” In the song, Eedris expresses that it has transformed into ebi lokan (hunger’s turn) due to the widespread poverty affecting the populace.

Furthermore, he criticizes the government’s lavish expenditures, highlighting how significant amounts are allocated for travel expenses, Aso Rock upkeep, food, and beverages, even for animals, while Nigerians suffer from severe hunger.

At this point, Eedris asks a pertinent question, ‘Wetin Nigerians do to warrant this treatment?” The chorus follows; ‘Tinubu government blame Buhari, Buhari government blame Jonathan…hunger dey, people are dying. Dis one don pass jagajaga ooo, Emi Lokan oti di ebi lokan…you know say Buhari was incompetent, you still bring am to destroy Nigeria…”

My brothers and sisters, those are very powerful lyrics; typical of this fearless musician. Try looking for the video and watch for yourself. He even asked questions about our refineries and how much the government has made from the removal of subsidy. He demanded for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and follows it with a shout out to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Adeboye. “During Goodluck Jonathan, your voice was so loud, you even vowed to stage one-million March, hunger and hardship under Tinubu government, you said Nigeria get spiritual problem. Baba, we need your one million disciples to protest against president Tinubu government as you protested against Jonathan government. Daddy, abi leg don dey pain your disciples…? Hahahaha. Eedris will not kill somebody with laughter. May God save Nigerians”
