Kelly Andrade, 25, sued 35-year-old Michael Esposito for filming her while she lived with him and his family in New York’s Staten Island.
The father-of-four was arrested after she claimed he tried to break down her door when he realised she had discovered the device and the memory card inside crammed with “hundreds” of clips.
A Manhattan jury has now awarded the au pair £600,000 in emotional distress damages against Esposito and his wife Danielle, plus £1.6 million in punitive damages against him.
Esposito, who owns three LaRosa Grill franchises, was taken into custody on suspicion of illegal surveillance, which carries a maximum sentence of four years.
However, he was allowed to walk free on the condition he completes two years of probation and counselling.
Ms Andrade’s solicitor previously described the punishment as a “slap on the wrist“.
Speaking to the New York Post, the nanny said: “It’s not enough for the whole situation I’ve been through these three years. It’s not enough.
“I was angry because the damage that he caused me is irreversible.”
In her lawsuit, the Colombian national described spending hundreds of hours training after being hired by Cultural Care Au Pair and sent to work in the UK.
She told the Post she was thrilled at the opportunity to learn English while working in Britain.
But she became suspicious after frequently seeing Esposito tinkering with the smoke detector in the bedroom they had given her, saying it “was constantly being repositioned“.
After several weeks in the job she took a closer look at the device and spotted the camera hidden inside.
She described having to escape through a window when Esposito arrived home and started banging on her door.
According to the lawsuit, police later found “hundreds of recordings” of her “nude and/or dressing/undressing” on it.

During a recent episode of her show “Flow with Korty,” Tems shared her perspective on love while speaking with the popular YouTuber Korty EO. She highlighted that, contrary to the common phrase “love is blind,” she believes love is experienced with eyes wide open.
Tems explained;
“I haven’t been in love. Loving someone for me is more of ‘I see you and I still want to be in your life. Even though you annoy me sometimes, I choose you and I choose you.’ I would like to be in love, to experience something deep but really real not blind. I don’t believe that love is blind, I think if you really love someone you’re loving them with your eyes open.”
The singer emphasized that true love involves loving someone even when you see their vulnerability.
“If you’re blind that is not love. Love is when you’ve seen the person, their yansh is open and you’re like ‘I still want it. I still want that.’ I want someone to see my goods and be like, ‘Yeah, give me some of that,” she said.
Tems mentioned that she can often discern the intentions men have towards her when it comes to meeting and accommodating new people. She also outlined the qualities she seeks in individuals.
“The thing is I know their intentions most of the time. They have one intention, like most guys. They’re very obvious, so how can I trust this conversation we’re having? It’s not even real. Everything you say is fake. Once I see that I’m like ‘Omo.’ I have things that I’m looking for. You have to be emotionally intelligent, very funny and spiritually adept, inclined and mature. But to boys who like me, show me,” said Tems.

Aanvi Kamdar, a Mumbai-based chartered accountant, was on a monsoon outing with seven friends when she fell into the 300-foot-deep gorge near the Kumbhe waterfall at Mangaon in Raigad on Tuesday, according to a police official on Wednesday, 17th July 2024.
Kamdar, a resident of Mumbai’s Mulund area, had visited the waterfall with her friends amid the rains.
While recording a video of the surroundings, she slipped and fell into the gorge.
Upon being alerted by her friends, police and local rescuers reached the spot and rushed her to the nearby Mangaon Taluka Government Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

A source told PEOPLE exclusively that the musician, 30, is keeping things centred around his wife, Hailey Bieber, and their baby son, Jack Blues, whose birth was announced last month.
“He’s aware of Diddy’s arrest and all the allegations,” the source tells PEOPLE, referring to the 54-year-old rapper’s Sept. 16 arrest following recent sex trafficking and sexual assault lawsuits.
“It’s not anything that he wants to focus on, though,” the source adds of Justin.
The insider notes that the “Peaches” singer has instead “been in a happy bubble since baby Jack was born.”
“He just wants to focus on being a great dad and husband,” they add.
Diddy was arrested at a New York City hotel on 16 September after he was indicted by a grand jury.
Following the arrest, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams released a statement that Diddy had been taken into custody by federal agents based on a then-sealed indictment. Unsealed the following day, it revealed that the rapper-producer was charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
At the time of Diddy’s arrest, his lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, said in a statement to PEOPLE that his client is “an innocent man with nothing to hide.”

A source close to Justin recently told PEOPLE that he and his model-entrepreneur wife, 27, are “both overjoyed” about being first-time parents.
The source also said that the “baby is such a miracle” and “the pregnancy was something that they very much wished and prayed for.”
“The day they found out that Hailey was pregnant was the best ever for Justin. He was over the moon with excitement. It was a big celebration for them,” they said, adding that “Justin’s already a great dad.”
