Real Madrid decided to boycott the Ballon d’Or ceremony because they felt Vinicius Junior should have won the award.

They believed Dani Carvajal should have been the winner if Vinicius wasn’t. The club was reportedly upset that Vinicius lost to Rodri for the award.

Real Madrid was furious when Rodri won the Player of the Year award, despite their hopes for Vinicius Jr. or Dani Carvajal. Real Madrid representatives were banned from attending the ceremony after the leak. Vinicius Jr. has now spoken out after Rodri’s emotional acceptance speech, acknowledging the award for his contributions to Spain’s Euro 2024 victory and Manchester City’s fourth consecutive Premier League title.

I’ll do it 10x if I have to. They’re not ready,’ he posted on X, hinting at future successes.

Vinicius Jr., the 24-year-old Brazilian forward, was a strong contender for the 2024 Ballon d’Or after his impressive performance leading Real Madrid to a LaLiga-UEFA Champions League double. He contributed six goals and four assists in ten Champions League appearances and recorded 20 goal involvements in 26 La Liga matches.

‘If the criteria of the award do not proclaim Vinicius the winner, those same criteria must proclaim Carvajal the winner,’ the club stated earlier today.

‘Since this has not been the case, it is obvious that the Ballon d’Or and UEFA do not respect Real Madrid. And Real Madrid is not where it is not respected.’

Aaron Wan-Bissaka Signs Seven-Year Deal with West Ham After Leaving Manchester United

The right-back joins on a seven-year contract for an undisclosed fee, believed to be worth £15 million.

“It’s an amazing feeling to be back in London, and I’m excited for what’s coming. I was born here, so I know the ins and outs of London, which plays a big part in my life, so to be back playing in this city means a lot to me.

“I’m happy to be here, am grateful for the warm welcome, and I am excited to be playing for the club and will give it my all.

“I can’t wait to get on the pitch, get to know the players, and push on from there. I see a team that is in it together, that will push each other to win, and a group that has got each others’ backs through thick and thin, so being part of that and having that insurance helps a lot when you are surrounded by a good squad.”

West Ham technical director Tim Steidten added:

“I am delighted we’ve been able to get the deal to sign Aaron over the line. He’s exactly the type of player we’re looking to attract to this club in the prime years of his career.

“He’s an incredibly talented defender who we rate very highly – superb in one-on-one situations. He’s versatile too, which is clearly another positive. He’s played over 170 Premier League games during his career – he knows the division inside-out.

“It’s a really exciting time for us as we prepare for the start of the new season this weekend.”

Wan-Bissaka joined Manchester United in June 2019 from Crystal Palace and has made 190 appearances for the club in all competitions, winning the FA Cup and the EFL Cup at Old Trafford.

UCL Finals: Borussia Dortmund vs Real Madrid – Confirmed Lineups, Team News, Injury Updates

Real Madrid, with 14 European titles, aims to secure their sixth title in 11 years, a remarkable achievement unmatched by any other club.

Borussia Dortmund, champions in 1997, are back in the final for the first time since 2013 when they lost to Bayern Munich at Wembley.

Thibaut Courtois will be the starting goalkeeper for Real Madrid in tonight’s Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund.

Courtois, who has made a remarkable recovery from a serious knee injury with just four appearances this season, will look to replicate his performance from the 2022 final as Real Madrid seeks their 15th European title at Wembley.

Andriy Lunin, the usual stand-in goalkeeper, missed the flight to London due to the flu but later joined the squad and was named as a substitute despite performing well in Courtois’ absence.

Ancelotti said on Friday: “Lunin has had the flu. He’s going to travel. He is going to be on the bench of course and yes Thibaut Courtois is going to be in goal tomorrow.”

With David Alaba still out from a December injury, Nacho Fernandez will join Antonio Rudiger in central defense.
Eder Militao is not fully prepared due to being sidelined most of the season.

Eduardo Camavinga is chosen over Luka Modric in the midfield lineup alongside Fede Valverde and Toni Kroos.
Jude Bellingham is set to play behind Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo in the attacking lineup.

Sebastien Haller’s potential inclusion in Dortmund’s squad is a concern due to his ankle troubles.
Julien Duranville and Ramy Bensebaini are unavailable for Dortmund.

Marco Reus is likely to be on the bench for his farewell match for Borussia Dortmund.
Julian Brandt and Jadon Sancho have secured their positions in the attack.
Karim Adeyemi and Donyell Malen are viable options for the left flank.
