Popular Nigerian actress Omowunmi Dada has announced she's had leg surgery after suffering in silence for quite some time.
The actress, who's 35 years old, shared the news on Tuesday via her Instagram. She posted a touching video showing her recovery – hospital visits, X-rays, walking with crutches, and getting support from her loved ones.
In the caption, the award-winning actress admitted she'd been hiding her pain for years while working and attending public events.
“Sometimes we smile through the pain so convincingly that no one sees the storm we’re facing,” she wrote. “For so long, I pushed through the discomfort, walking through film sets and public events like everything was fine, but deep down I was struggling.”
Omowunmi shared that she's decided to have surgery, a decision she found both humbling and life-changing.
“The idea of not being able to do basic things—walk freely, use the bathroom without help—was overwhelming. But God carried me through it. I’m still on the journey, but my healing is unfolding beautifully,” she said.
The actress also expressed her deep gratitude to her doctors, friends, and family who supported her through the challenging process.
“To my amazing doctors, thank you for your dedication. To my friends who checked in, visited, and reminded me I wasn’t alone—thank you. And to my family, your strength gave me strength,” she wrote.
