On 12 December 2024, Hyacinth Nnalue reported to the Akwu-kwu Igbo division that his cousin, Chigozie Udalor, had been missing since 10 December 2024. Chigozie was the site manager at a fish pond in the Bod Camp area of the Akwukwu Igbo community.

The investigation, initially led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), was later escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department. Commissioner of Police CP Olufemi Abaniwonda directed the DPO, CSP Aliyu Shaba, to conduct a thorough investigation. On 31 March 2025, police arrested David Tacho, who attempted to withdraw money from Chigozie's account using his phone, and Daniel Orshio, who was also involved in the murder.

Further investigation revealed a disturbing conspiracy: David Tacho is the brother of Victor Tacho, who, along with Pius Daniel (both currently at large), conspired with Daniel Orshio to murder Chigozie. All four suspects were employed by Chigozie and, upon discovering his substantial balance in a Moniepoint account, plotted his murder. They used a hammer to strike Chigozie on the head, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the site.
