Protesters in Port Harcourt have been attacked with tear gas.
Officers from the Rivers State Police Command attacked the protesters on Monday morning.
The protesters had gathered at Isaac Boro Park when the officers stormed the area.
The protest was organised by the Take It Back Movement in response to the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State.
Members of the organisation were met with a heavy police presence when they assembled at the protest venue as early as 9:00 am.
“Nobody can tell us where not to gather, we are Rivers people,”
Channels TV reported young demonstrators shouting at the police officers.
The Nigeria Police Force had advised the organisers to abandon their plans.
