The event was a private family gathering, but it drew high-profile guests including Beyoncé, Nas, Chris Martin, and Megan Thee Stallion. Hattie White is a deeply influential figure in the family, famously delivering the line, "I was served lemons, but I made lemonade," during her 90th birthday speech in 2015.

This quote was the direct inspiration for the title of Beyoncé's groundbreaking album, Lemonade, and is featured in the album's track "Freedom." Beyond her musical influence, Hattie White has been publicly honored by the family before; in 2018, Jay-Z and Beyoncé gifted her an engraved park bench in Brooklyn's Prospect Park, referring to her as their "root" in the inscription.
