Former Governor of Oyo State, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has been officially crowned as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

The crowning ceremony took place today, September 26, at the Ose Meji Temple in the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state.

Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja became the Olubadan-designate following the passing of the 43rd Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on Monday, July 7, 2025. Before ascending to the throne, the new monarch had a notable political career, serving two non-consecutive terms as the Governor of Oyo State from 2003 to 2006 and again from 2006 to 2007. He also served as the Senator representing Oyo South from 1992 to 1993.
