Popular Nollywood Duru Michael Dies After Prolonged Illness |
His colleague and filmmaker, Stanleyontop, confirmed the news on Thursday.
He wrote on Instagram: “Nollywood actor Duro Michael has kicked the bucket.
He died a few days ago after battling a terminal illness… May his soul rest in peace. Omo, it’s well ooo.
We don’t help ourselves in this Nollywood, and it’s too bad… No synergy.”
Michael stopped acting for several years because he was very sick.
His illness got so bad that one of his legs had to be cut off (amputated). After this, he publicly asked for help to pay for his medical care and a fake leg (prosthetic limb).
Even with his difficulties, Michael asked movie producers to keep giving him acting roles in 2024.
In 2022, a religious leader named Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin gave him ₦5 million to help pay for his medical treatment, but unfortunately, Michael's health got worse.
Michael acted in several Nigerian movies (Nollywood), such as Midnight Love (2003) and The Guilty (2006).
