Actor Taiye Arimoro Suspended by AGN, DGN, and AMP After On-Set Row
The President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has announced a joint decision made with the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN) and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP). They have officially suspended Nollywood actor Taiye Arimoro following an incident that took place on the set of Peggy Ovire’s film.
Mr. Rollas shared the statement with an emotional note, explaining that the decision was driven by “responsibility, compassion, and a desire to restore trust” within Nollywood. He emphasised that the AGN is a family, and all actions must be taken to protect the welfare of its members.
The Verdict
According to the joint document, dated 27 November 2025, the three guilds reviewed the findings from their disciplinary committees. They concluded that Taiye Arimoro was the main offender in the incident.
He was found to have assaulted the production manager and the driver.
He also circulated a misleading live video which incorrectly described the events and unfairly brought producer Peggy Ovire into the matter, even though she was not present during the initial argument.
The report cleared the director, production manager, and crew of any wrongdoing.
The guilds have therefore issued a joint decision to suspend Taiye Arimoro from all Nollywood productions until further notice.
Arimoro's Requirements:
He must make a public apology to the production manager, Peggy Ovire, and the director.
He must release a corrective video stating the true sequence of events.
He has been instructed to return and finish his remaining scenes for Pieces of Love under supervision.
He must comply fully with any further instructions from the guilds.
Action Against Producer Peggy Ovire
The guilds also addressed the role of producer Peggy Ovire. While she was not involved in the initial dispute, they noted that her emotional reaction at the estate gate caused the issue to worsen outside the compound.
Ovire's Requirements:
She must apologise to the estate management.
She must submit a written promise to handle personnel better on future sets.
She must also sign a written promise on behalf of her driver, Joshua.
New Safety Code
The three guilds confirmed that Nollywood has a zero-tolerance policy for violence, intimidation, harassment, or bad behaviour on any film set. They announced that work has started on a unified On-Set Conduct and Safety Code to guide productions across the nation.
The joint statement was signed by Queen Blessing Ebigieson (for AMP), Uche Agbo (for DGN), and Emeka Rollas (for AGN). Copies have been sent to relevant industry and security authorities.
