Facebook and Instagram Suspended Rapper Eedris Abdulkareem’s Accounts Over New Song - open letter to trump

eedris albdulkareem Facebook and Instagram account suspended over new song released titled letter to trump

Nigerian rapper and activist Eedris Abdulkareem has let people know that Facebook and Instagram have temporarily stopped him from using his accounts. He believes this happened because he released his new song, "Open Letter to Donald Trump."

Speaking to SaharaReporters, Abdulkareem explained that he hasn't been able to log into either of his accounts since the song came out. "Facebook has just suspended my Facebook and Instagram account because of my new song, Open Letter to Donald Trump," he said.

We checked, and it's true that both accounts can't be accessed right now. Meta (the company that owns Facebook and Instagram) hasn't said how long the accounts will be suspended for.

The Song's Message

The song came out in November 2025 and was released by Abdulkareem's label, Lakreem Entertainment. It's a protest song about bad management, corruption, and safety problems in Nigeria.

Even though the song is called a "letter" to the President Donald Trump, the main point is actually about Nigeria's politicians. In the track, Abdulkareem says that leaders are getting rich while normal people are struggling. He describes them as "criminals of all shades and hues." The song also draws attention to the worsening violence, like kidnappings and killings, and asks for the world to notice what Nigerians are going through.

"Open Letter to Donald Trump" is the latest in a long line of political songs from Abdulkareem, following hits like "Jaga Jaga," which also criticised corruption in Nigeria.

His last protest song, "Tell Your Papa," was banned in April 2025 by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) because they claimed it had "offensive lyrics."

Abdulkareem has always used his music to challenge politicians and highlight social unfairness. Even though he keeps getting censored, he is still one of Nigeria's most vocal protest singers, speaking for frustrated citizens and demanding that the country's leaders take responsibility.
