House of Representatives member pleads for mercy for Nnamdi Kanu following life sentence.

A member of Parliament, Obi Aguocha, has asked for forgiveness for Nnamdi Kanu during the court case at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

Aguocha, who is the MP for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South area in Abia State, spoke shortly after the court found the IPOB leader guilty of seven terrorism charges. Speaking to Justice James Omotosho, he said the country needed a way to become stable.

“My lord, I plead for mercy, I plead for clemency, and I appeal for peace and stability not just in the South East, but in Nigeria. Nigeria is bleeding, and we must find common solutions to our common problems,” he said.

Aguocha explained that as Kanu's representative in the National Assembly, he felt he had a duty to show support, which is why he has always come to the court hearings.

He added, “I plead for the lord to show mercy and temper justice with mercy. I am a friend of the court, and I appreciate the opportunity to address you.”
