Omoyele "Yele" Sowore, the well-known Nigerian politician, human rights activist, pro-democracy campaigner, and journalist, has expressed concern about the continued detention of the native doctor from Anambra State, proudly known as Akwa Okuko.

In his words: "I am raising fresh concerns over the extended detention of Chidozie Nwangwu, popularly known as Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki, a native doctor from Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area."

"The Anambra State Government has reportedly held him in custody since early February 2025, alongside two other native practitioners. Is it a crime to practice traditional religion? Or is there anything we don't know? Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo must end the persecution of these men NOW!"
