"Meet Amaka Akukwe, the RedBox Founder Shaping Nollywood's Biggest Moments"

Amaka Akukwe, Founder and Chief Creative Director of RedBox, has built a career spanning over 13 years designing and producing experiences around major Nollywood premieres, entertainment events, brand activations and cultural productions.

She has been associated with the event experiences surrounding films including Call of My Life, Sugar Rush, Palava, Omo Ghetto, Lisabi and Colours of Fire, among other Nollywood productions.

Through RedBox, she has worked at the intersection of entertainment, creativity and event production, developing concepts and experiences designed to extend the themes and narratives of film projects beyond the cinema screen.

Her portfolio also extends beyond Nollywood, with RedBox delivering corporate events, brand activations, cultural experiences, festivals and large-scale productions for organisations and brands including Netflix, Meta, Tolaram, IFC and Access Bank.

The agency has also been involved in five consecutive editions of the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), providing event production and branding services across workshops, film premieres and gala events.

Akukwe, who also serves in Events and Branding at AFRIFF, said her approach to event production is centred on the audience's experience.

"I'm always thinking about what people will feel, not just what they will see. The best experiences stay with you long after you've left the room," she said.

Her work has recently extended to large-scale public events, with Akukwe and the RedBox team involved in the Black Market event at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, expected to attract more than 50,000 people.

The project reflects the range of productions associated with Akukwe and RedBox, spanning corporate gatherings, brand experiences, film premieres, festivals and large public events.

Over the past decade, Akukwe has built RedBox around the idea of creating events that complement and become part of the stories, brands and cultural moments they represent.

With the agency's activities spanning entertainment, corporate events, culture and large-scale productions, Akukwe continues to work across Nigeria's growing experiential and events industry.
