Nollywood actress and gospel minister Eucharia Anunobi has formally received her appointment letter as an aide to Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, officially marking her entry into public service.
The actress shared the news with her followers on Instagram on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. She posted photographs of herself with Governor Mbah and the Secretary to the State Government, Chidiebere Onyia, in which she was seen holding her appointment letter.
In her announcement, she expressed excitement about the appointment and described it as an important milestone in her career. She disclosed that she would serve as Senior Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for the Enugu North Zone. Reflecting on the development, she also expressed gratitude and suggested that the appointment was an unexpected turn in her professional journey.
Her appointment is part of the Enugu State Government's efforts to strengthen its network of political aides across different sectors and communities. Governor Mbah approved the appointment of 101 aides in September. The appointments, announced by Secretary to the State Government Chidiebere Onyia, comprised seven special advisers, six senior special assistants and 88 special assistants. The aides were assigned responsibilities in areas including security, environmental matters, youth engagement, infrastructure, technology, community development and political mobilisation.
However, there appears to be a discrepancy between the position initially announced by the state government and the title stated by the actress in her latest Instagram post. The September announcement identified her as Special Assistant on Women Mobilisation for Enugu North, while she described herself as Senior Special Assistant in her post. The state government has not been reported to have publicly clarified the difference in titles.
Another Nollywood actress, Rachael Okonkwo, was also included in the September appointments. She was named Senior Special Assistant on Film and Creative Industry Development, a role connected to the entertainment sector.
Eucharia Anunobi has enjoyed a long career in the Nigerian film industry, rising to wide recognition through her performances in Nollywood productions during the 1990s. Over the years, she has featured in more than 90 films, establishing herself as a familiar face in Nigerian entertainment. Beyond acting, she later became a gospel minister while maintaining her connection to the creative industry.
The appointment also reflects the continued involvement of entertainment personalities in Nigerian politics and public administration, with several actors taking on roles in government at state and national levels.
