Tacha Reveals Why She Snubbed the UK for Nigeria in GWR Makeover Bid
Reality TV star and entrepreneur Natasha Akide, better known as Tacha, has explained why she chose Lagos, Nigeria, over the United Kingdom for her Guinness World Record attempt. She is aiming for the most makeovers completed in 24 hours.
Speaking to influencer Egungun at her Tacha Beauty Festival, the former Big Brother Naija contestant said her decision was driven by a strong desire to promote Nigeria's creative and entrepreneurial spirit.
For Tacha, the goal goes beyond setting a new global record; it's about showcasing the talent, vibrancy, and potential of Nigeria's beauty industry.
“London won’t give me the vibes I want. I had sponsorship offers from international brands and we initially planned to do it in London. But it always makes sense to carry your country along” Tacha said.
The 24-hour record attempt kicked off on Saturday night in Lagos, with Tacha aiming to complete 150 makeovers within the timeframe.
By Sunday morning, she had already managed 115 makeovers in just 12 hours. This meant she had successfully beaten the previous Guinness World Record of 113 makeovers completed over a full 24-hour period.
The event is a central part of the ongoing Tacha Beauty Festival, a three-day celebration running from 10th to 12th October, which highlights beauty, culture, and the resilience of Nigeria's growing creative industry.
