Tragedy in Abuja: Female NSCDC Officer Dies During Training Drill

Footage of the accident shows colleagues and bystanders desperately rushing to lift the vehicle to rescue her from underneath. Although emergency responders arrived quickly and evacuated her for medical care, she was unfortunately pronounced dead. NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed the tragedy, describing it as a devastating accident, and noted that the agency has launched an internal review into the incident.
“It is true we lost a personnel during the simulation exercise. Our senior officers are on their way to the residence of the deceased to pay our condolences,” he stated.
He further stated that an official report would be issued shortly to explain exactly what happened and detail the steps the agency is taking in response.
The NSCDC had not yet publicly identified the deceased officer as of Saturday.
