AMVCA 2026: A Big Night for Uche Montana, Linda Ejiofor and Uzor Arukwe
The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) took place last night at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos. It was a spectacular affair, with the stars of Nollywood firmly in the limelight.
The festivities began on Thursday with ‘Icon’s Night’, followed by a ‘Cultural Night’, before reaching a crescendo yesterday evening in a grand celebration of African cinema and its leading talents.
Nigerian performers dominated the event, securing the night’s most prestigious honours. As anticipated, Linda Ejiofor enjoyed a particularly successful evening, taking home two trophies: Best Actress for The Serpent’s Gift and Best Supporting Actress for her role in the Daniel Etim-Effiong film, The Herd.
In other categories, industry veterans Kanayo O. Kanayo and Sola Sobowale were honoured with Industry Merit Awards, while Uche Montana received the Trailblazer Award. Further notable wins included Akinola Davies Jnr., who was named Best Director, and My Father’s Shadow, which was crowned Best Movie.
A significant highlight of the evening was the red carpet outside the Eko Hotels Convention Centre. Celebrities arrived in bespoke outfits crafted by some of the most prominent names in fashion; for many, the quest to turn heads involved a considerable financial investment.
The star-studded event concluded with a captivating performance by Tiwa Savage.
