Bella Speaks Out on Sheggz Breakup: "100 Promises, Not One Fulfilled"

"100 Promises, Zero Fulfilled" – Bella Reacts to Sheggz Breakup

Big Brother Naija star Bella Okagbue has addressed her breakup with fellow reality TV personality Sheggz, explaining that she chose to speak out after observing third parties control the narrative around her relationship.

In a series of posts on her Instagram Story, Bella noted that she had initially chosen to remain quiet, believing that certain aspects of their personal life were best kept private.

“For the past few days, I have watched people tell my story for me. I stayed silent because I believed some things deserved to remain private, but my silence should never be mistaken for guilt,” she wrote.

The reality TV star stated that her feelings for Sheggz were genuine and that she defended their relationship because of her strong belief in it at the time.

She added that her decision to offer him a second chance stemmed from a firm belief in an individual's capacity for personal growth and change.

“I loved genuinely. I defended the relationship because I believed in it at the time, and I chose to give someone I loved a second chance because I believe people can grow and change. That was my choice, and I own it,” she said

Bella, however, noted that believing in someone's capacity for change did not obligate her to wait indefinitely for it to occur.

She also indicated that the public perception of Sheggz differed significantly from her private experience with him.

“The person everyone experiences publicly isn’t always the person you experience privately,” she stated.

Addressing ongoing discussions regarding marriage and Sheggz’s stated intentions to marry her, Bella emphasized that desiring marriage with a partner should not be interpreted as desperation.

She maintained that recognizing when to walk away from a relationship is crucial, emphasizing that a marriage proposal or engagement ring cannot resolve underlying relationship issues.

“On marriage and the ring, let me be clear: wanting marriage with someone you love is not desperation. Knowing when not to marry them is discernment. Sometimes, it takes more courage to walk away than to stay,” Bella wrote.

“A ring doesn’t fix what made a relationship impossible.”

Bella further noted that several accounts circulating online regarding the situation did not align with her actual experience.

“There are versions of events circulating that do not reflect my experience, just as there are parts of my experience I have chosen not to discuss publicly yet. Those are mine to tell, when appropriate,” she said.

The reality TV star added that although she approached the relationship with love, loyalty, and a willingness to allow for growth, she ultimately reached a point where continuing was no longer viable.

“I gave love a chance. I gave change a chance. I gave loyalty in abundance,” she wrote.

“But even loyalty has an expiry date when trust, respect and peace can no longer coexist with it.”

Bella stated that while she does not regret offering the relationship a second chance, she has reached a point where further attempts at reconciliation are no longer viable.

“I don’t regret being the woman who chose to try again. I respect the woman I am today enough to know when trying again is no longer the answer,” she said.

She concluded by stating that she has chosen to prioritize herself and will make a different decision moving forward, regardless of the consequences.

“So today, I choose myself. I choose differently, regardless of what comes with it,” Bella added.
