Ayra Starr: Why I Chose Ambition Over Dating in School

 Grammy-nominated Mavin Records artiste Ayra Starr has revealed that her decision to stay single during her school years was a strategic move to protect her future brand. 

The 23-year-old singer explained in a recent interview with Quenlin Blackwell that she avoided dating to ensure no one could claim to be her "ex" after she achieved global fame. 

Highly self-aware even then, she admitted to being suspicious of the motives of those who approached her at the time.

“I didn’t date in high school because I didn’t want to be anybody’s ex. I knew a lot of guys were trying, and I was like, why are you trying That means you must have an ulterior motive,” she said.

The singer also discussed her current dating standards, noting that she prioritizes intelligence and mental connection over physical appearance in a partner.
