Nollywood icon Genevieve Nnaji is set to make a highly anticipated return to the global stage in 'Wahala', a gripping new thriller from BBC Studios. The six-part series is based on Nikki May’s celebrated debut novel and was adapted for television by the BAFTA-nominated screenwriter Theresa Ikoko. It is scheduled to air on BBC One and will be available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
Nnaji joins a powerhouse, female-led cast featuring Adelayo Adedayo, Deborah Ayorinde, Cush Jumbo, and Susan Wokoma. The drama explores the lives of four Nigerian-British women in contemporary London as they juggle the demands of their careers and families while grappling with long-hidden secrets.
At the centre of the story are three lifelong friends—Simi, Boo, and Ronke—whose world is suddenly turned upside down by the arrival of a fourth woman, Isobel, played by Deborah Ayorinde. As Isobel cements her place in the group, the fragile stability of their lives begins to unravel.
