Lagos Jazz Residency ‘Super Sessions’ Debuts with Kunle Ayo & Phebean

A new era of premium live music officially arrived in Lagos with the spectacular launch of the LIJF/NAIJAZZ “Super Sessions” Jazz Residency. The exclusive cultural series—hosted by Dulles Restaurant and Lounge in partnership with Inspiro Productions—promises to redefine the city's nightlife for discerning music lovers.

The debut event, held at the upscale Dulles venue on 41 Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island, attracted a sophisticated crowd. An impressive mix of music enthusiasts, corporate executives, media personalities, and cultural patrons gathered to experience an evening of world-class live jazz and premium hospitality.

Adding immense cultural weight to the night was the presence of legendary broadcaster and music historian Mr. Benson Idonije, who attended alongside his wife. As the iconic first manager of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and the grandfather of global superstar Burna Boy, his attendance underscored the prestige of the residency.

Reflecting on the vision behind the initiative, Ayoola Sadare—Founder of the Lagos International Jazz Festival & Nigerian Jazz Project (LIJF/NAIJAZZ) and CEO of Inspiro Productions—emphasised that the residency is designed to be far more than just a series of concerts: “We are creating a cultural platform where great music, meaningful connections, and quality hospitality come together. The LIJF/NAIJAZZ Super Sessions is designed to give audiences a more intimate and authentic live music experience while continuing the legacy of the Lagos International Jazz Festival.”

Anticipation had already reached a fever pitch following a series of media appearances by internationally acclaimed guitarist Kunle Ayo—and he did not disappoint.

The evening kicked off in spectacular fashion, with ECA and Seun Glorious setting the perfect opening tone. They were followed by saxophonist Phebean “The SaxoQueen,” who delivered a soulful, elegant set that thoroughly captivated the room. Then, Kunle Ayo took center stage, delivering a spectacular two-hour guitar masterclass that earned multiple standing ovations and kept the crowd dancing well past midnight.
