"Fame brings you more attention from men" — Ifeoma Nebe

Up-and-coming Nollywood actress and former beauty queen Ifeoma Nebe has said that fame often brings more attention from men. She warned that entertainers need to stay disciplined so they do not get distracted.

Speaking to Potpourri, she addressed rumours that some women use acting as a cover-up for prostitution. She said she could not judge what other people choose to do, but believes being popular naturally means more men will chat you up.

“Prostitution is a personal thing, and I cannot generalize people’s morals, but I feel that when you start to get popular, you also tend to get lots of attention from the opposite sex, and lots of them would tend to make one want to lose one’s home training if one is not disciplined,” she said.

Nebe also looked back on her journey into the film industry, revealing that acting had always been her dream long before she got the chance to do it as a proper career.

“I have always had a passion for acting. I have always known what I wanted my future to look like, irrespective of my discipline at the time. So when the opportunity came, I did not hesitate,” she said.

Speaking about her career, the actress said she is still waiting for a role that will truly test her skills.

“I am yet to get a role that will be categorized as my most challenging. I’m patiently waiting for a role that will challenge me,” she said.

Nebe also gave some advice to aspiring actors, urging them not to rely only on acting to get by at the start of their careers.

She explained that having a side hustle or a practical trade can help young actors cope with the financial ups and downs of the industry until they make it big.

“Please, as a young girl or man, have some source of income or handiwork so it’s easier to navigate the industry at the early stage when the income is still very small, or when you are still an upcomer,” she advised.
