Former Big Brother Naija star turned actress, Bamike "Bambam" Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, is ready to shed her romantic-lead image. Speaking with Potpourri, the actress revealed her desire to switch gears and play a ruthless villain in an action movie.
Bambam explained that taking on a demanding, antagonistic role is currently at the top of her career wishlist. By breaking away from the safe, familiar characters she usually portrays, she hopes to push past her comfort zone and prove her true versatility and depth as an actress.
“That one character I would love to play is in an action film. I look forward to being in a film that is not a romcom, that is action. I would also love to play the villain in a movie and see how I am able to interpret that role,” she said.
Since her exit from the Big Brother Naija house, Bambam has steadily built a solid reputation in Nollywood. Now, as her career picks up speed, she is focused on long-term sustainability rather than short-term wins. To help manage the demands of stardom, the actress disclosed that she will be working with professional managers to protect her brand and provide the objective direction needed for her next chapter.
“How I intend to handle the spotlight and the expectations that come with it is to be signed to a management company, a management team that I am liaising with to ensure that my interest is protected at all times. To ensure that I am not being sentimental about the decisions I am making moving forward, having the right management team attached to me is one of the major ways,” she explained.
Reflecting on her recent projects, Bambam described her role in Omoni Oboli’s film Love In Every Word as a defining milestone in her acting career. Filled with gratitude, she thanked the filmmaker for trusting her talent and expressed immense appreciation for the massive support the movie has received from fans both locally and internationally.
“I am truly elated and grateful to God for the opportunity given to me by Omoni Oboli for taking a chance on me. She has been a blessing. I am really blessed at how Nigerians and the world have received this movie. I am grateful, elated, and blessed. Absolutely, I am trusting God that this will be a turning point for me as an actress,” she said.
Having successfully transitioned from reality TV to cinema, Bambam continues to earn praise for her growing filmography. Her new focus on action-packed, villainous roles marks the next phase of her career as she looks to explore her creative limits and solidify her spot in the film industry.
