Grammy-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as Tems, has her hit single "Me & U" showcased in the first official teaser for the upcoming Hollywood fantasy film, Children of Blood & Bone.
Adding to the project's star power, Afrobeats singer Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, known as Ayra Starr, makes an appearance in the preview, marking her debut in Hollywood acting.
The behind-the-scenes footage, released on Monday by director Gina Prince-Bythewood via her official Instagram page (@gpbmadeit), offers a glimpse into the film’s production, highlighting costume design work, dynamic action sequences, and brief cameos from the cast.
Its caption reads: “So excited to share a peek behind the scenes of our incredible journey to Orisha. CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE TRAILER drops TOMORROW! And in theaters Jan 15!”
Tems’ track "Me & U" serves as the soundtrack for the teaser, which also offers a brief look at Ayra Starr alongside fellow cast members in Paramount Pictures' feature adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel.
The star-studded ensemble includes Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris, Thuso Mbedu, Lashana Lynch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Amandla Stenberg, and Ayra Starr.
Set in a world inspired by West African mythology, the story centers on Zélie Adebola, a courageous young woman on a quest to restore magic to the kingdom of Orïsha after a ruthless regime violently strips it from her people.
Children of Blood & Bone is adapted from Adeyemi’s critically acclaimed 2018 novel, which serves as the debut installment in the Legacy of Orïsha trilogy.
