Ring Drama: Portable and Charles Okocha Clash at Boxing Face-Off
LAGOS — Tensions flared between Nigerian singer Habeeb “Portable” Okikiola and Nollywood actor Charles Okocha during a heated pre-fight face-off ahead of their upcoming celebrity boxing match, Chaos in the Ring.
Scheduled for July 31 in Lagos, the highly anticipated event is organized by Balmoral Promotions. Promotional footage released by the organizers—and subsequently shared on Okocha’s verified Instagram page—captures the two public figures exchanging intense verbal jabs, exchanging mock punches, and requiring security intervention to maintain order.
The upcoming bout serves as a high-stakes rematch following Portable's unanimous decision victory over Okocha earlier this year. Prompted by the loss, Okocha activated a rematch clause to challenge the outcome. During the press event, Portable remained steadfast, repeatedly asserting that he would replicate his previous victory and secure another win over the actor.
“I’m the man… I go prepare, I don prepare, I go win again, I go fight again. I go beat Charles Okocha,” he said.
In response, Okocha repeatedly advised his opponent to save his energy for fight night.
“So what are you talking about? Can you save that for the ring? Can you save that on the 31st? Don’t disrespect me! I’m not your mate. Don’t disrespect me,”Okocha said.
Reacting to the encounter, Balmoral Promotions wrote: “Zazzu no wan calm down oooo. You just know Fight Night will be hotter!”
The heated exchange has generated widespread buzz across social media, drawing reactions from fans and fellow entertainment industry figures alike.
Actor Timini Egbuson commented, “The winner of this fight too sure”.
Media personality Do2dtun wrote, “Boxing na composure. No be by mouth. Let the best man win”.
However, Music executive Don Wily also threw his weight behind Okocha, commenting, “Team Charles Okocha… Sure oddd.”
Organizers confirmed that the bout will be broadcast live, with tickets currently available for those attending in person.
The upcoming fight continues to drive strong engagement online, as fans from both camps express unwavering confidence in their preferred fighter ahead of the main event.
