A Nigerian clergyman has strongly criticized Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh following the launch of her new Christian ministry.
Dikeh sparked significant public discourse after unveiling her new ministry, New Wine Prophetic Tabernacle (NWPT), located in Abuja. According to the actress, the ministry serves as an interdenominational platform focused on prayer, spiritual training, revival, and awakening consecrated believers.
However, during a recent sermon, the founder of Coga Ministries openly questioned her spiritual authority, asking what she knows about the spiritual world. He further remarked that women began showing disrespect toward their husbands following the emergence of female church leaders, often referred to as "Mummy GOs."
Since celebrating her 40th birthday last year, Dikeh has publicly embraced a Christian lifestyle, distancing herself from her previous controversial media image. Following her birthday in June, she shared a photograph of herself partaking in Holy Communion, stating that she doesn’t do shots anymore but just communion.
Earlier this year, Dikeh announced she had dropped the moniker "King" from her name after eight years, explaining that the decision was made in obedience to the Holy Spirit and God’s will. She subsequently requested to be formally addressed as Evangelist Tonto Dikeh.
Further demonstrating her commitment to her faith, the mother of one completed a formal Discipleship class. Reflecting on the milestone, she described her spiritual journey as the most healing, stretching, overwhelming, and beautiful experience of her life, adding that no one can convince her there is no God. She also disclosed details regarding her initial assignment from God, admitting that she initially questioned Him about it.
In a separate appeal, Dikeh urged Christians to intensify their prayer lives. Sharing a video of herself in prayer, she encouraged the public to open their heart to receive a miracle, noting that she was fighting for her life, her destiny, her child, and her generation.
Late last year, she also shared a personal testimony detailing her recovery from addiction and masturbation. She revealed that she began smoking at age 13 due to her father’s influence and struggled with the habit for 27 years before breaking the addiction, while also overcoming challenges with alcoholism and masturbation.
