Kim Kardashian awarded €1 in damages after 2016 Paris robbery trial

A Paris court has ordered €1 in damages to be paid to Kim Kardashian in connection with the 2016 armed robbery she suffered in the French capital — the exact sum her legal team had sought — according to a lawyer involved in the proceedings.
Last year, the court convicted eight individuals for their involvement in the robbery, an incident Kardashian called "the most terrifying experience of my life."
In a joint statement, Kardashian and her stylist Simone Harouche, who was with her at the time of the attack, thanked the French judicial system:
"The experience was deeply traumatic, and its impact has stayed with us. Today's decision is not about the compensation, but about accountability and recognition."
"We are thankful to the court and everyone who supported us throughout this process, and we hope to now move forward and continue to heal."
A former front-desk employee at the Hôtel de Pourtalès, the site of the robbery, was granted €109,516 in damages. He testified that the October 2, 2016 jewel theft — which took place during Paris Fashion Week — left him traumatized, and had originally requested €550,000 in damages and interest.
The hotel itself received €50,000 in compensation, while Harouche was awarded €1, matching her original request.
During the robbery, two assailants disguised as police officers broke into Kardashian's suite, restrained her using zip ties and tape, and stole jewelry valued at more than $6 million — among the items taken was a diamond ring she had worn earlier that evening to a Givenchy fashion show.
Dubbed "les papys braqueurs" ("the grandpa robbers") by the French press, the perpetrators included six men in their 60s and 70s at the time of their trial on charges of armed robbery, kidnapping, criminal association, and related offenses.
Because they had already served time in pre-trial detention, none of the convicted individuals returned to prison, and none filed an appeal against the ruling.
Following their conviction, Kardashian released a statement saying she was "deeply grateful to the French authorities for pursuing justice in this case."
"The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life, leaving a lasting impact on me and my family," she said.
"While I'll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability and pray for healing for all. I remain committed to advocating for justice and promoting a fair legal system."
