Pete Edochie Reacts to Death Rumors: "I'm Very Much Alive"

Famous Nigerian actor Pete Edochie has once again spoken out against fake news claiming he has died. This is not the first time this has happened; since 2012, several false stories have circulated claiming he passed away in accidents or while abroad.
The 78-year-old star, known to many as Ebubedike, is very much alive. He is still highly respected in the film industry and holds prestigious awards for his long career.
"I've been 'killed' seven times"
Edochie shared his frustration over these recurring lies, noting that people have falsely reported his death seven times now. He told Vanguard newspapers that he remains in good health. He will celebrate his 79th birthday on 7 March, and he credits his long life to his family’s good genes.
The latest rumour claimed the actor was rushed to hospital and died shortly after. It even falsely suggested his son, Uche, had confirmed the news on Instagram.
Speaking over the phone to clear the air, Pete Edochie said: “I’m alive and will die when my maker calls me home.”
Speaking further, he added : “I have been killed about seven times. There was a time they said I travelled abroad and died there.
"At other times, they claimed the plane I took from Enugu to Ethiopia crashed and that I didn’t survive. On another occasion, my wife was getting ready for church when someone called to say they’d heard I had passed away that morning. Only last year, someone from Ghana even claimed that Pete Edochie was already in the grave."
“However, there was something late Nnamdi Azikwe thought me when I interviewed him. He said that anybody who’s wishing you death will die before you. All those people that wished Zik death died before him. That was what I learnt from Zik. On the 7th of March, I will be 79. My father died at 96, so we have longevity in my family,” Pete Edoche said.
