"For me, the Afrobeats 'Big 3' has to be Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Rema," says Ayra Starr.

Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has officially named her GOATs. Speaking with Hot 97 FM, the singer identified Tiwa Savage, Wizkid, and Rema as her "solid Big 3," crediting them as the most influential artists driving the genre’s worldwide success.

According to Starr,

“My Afrobeats Big 3 would be Tiwa Savage, Wizkid and Rema. My solid Big 3,” she said.

The "Rush" singer explained that her top picks represent the different ways artists have changed the genre. Specifically, she praised Tiwa Savage for breaking barriers for women in an industry usually dominated by men.

Ayra’s list adds a fresh perspective to a long-running debate. For years, fans have labeled Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy as the "Big 3" because of their massive sales and fame. However, not everyone agrees with that title.

In late 2025, Tiwa Savage herself challenged the idea, arguing that it ignores other heavyweights like Yemi Alade, Asake, and Tems. Savage suggested the "Big 3" label sticks mostly because those three artists have such intense fan bases, rather than being the only ones who matter. Ayra Starr’s new list shows that as Afrobeats grows, the conversation about who is "the greatest" is constantly changing.
