Broda Shaggi Reportedly Hospitalized Following Shooting Incident in Sango-Ota

OGUN STATE – Popular Nigerian comedian and social media sensation Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has reportedly been hospitalized after sustaining a gunshot wound in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

The incident is said to have occurred on Sunday afternoon in the vicinity of the Sango-Ota bridge.

While the exact circumstances of the shooting are still being established, a police source—speaking on the condition of anonymity—indicated that the injury may have occurred during a professional engagement. According to the source, the content creator was filming a comedy skit at the location when the accidental shooting took place.

Following the incident, Broda Shaggi was reportedly rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State. Sources indicate he received immediate medical attention and initial treatment upon arrival.

As of the time of this report, Broda Shaggi’s management team has not released an official statement regarding his current condition or the specifics of the incident.

“He was shooting a skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when he sustained a gunshot injury. 

“We don’t have details on how it happened yet, but his crew members who were present quickly rushed him to the hospital,” the source said.

According to the source, medical personnel at the first hospital provided emergency first aid immediately upon the comedian’s arrival. Following this initial care, further investigation revealed that he was transferred to Duchess Hospital in the Ikeja GRA, where he is currently in stable condition and recovering.

"As of the time of this publication, there has been no response to text messages sent to the medical facilities. However, when contacted on Thursday, the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident, stating that the police were officially alerted by the hospital."

The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility.

“Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer popularly known as Broda Shaggy.

“He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” she said.

When reached for further clarification, Oluseyi Babaseyi, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, stated that the incident had not been officially reported within the state. "Although the event reportedly took place in Ogun State, no formal report has been lodged," Babaseyi noted.

Additionally, efforts to reach Broda Shaggi’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu (Penzaar), were unsuccessful as he did not respond to multiple phone calls.

A text message sent to him had yet to be replied to as of the time of filing this report.
