The popular Nnewi-based native doctor, De Young Chief Priest (often called "Aka Mmuo"), has been arrested. He was taken into custody by the Agunechemba Operatives, a security group working in Anambra State.
Aka Mmuo is a well-known traditional healer and social media personality in Nnewi. He is famous for showing off his spiritual work and wealth online. His full title, Aka Mmuo Mmiri Afulu Anya, suggests he is a "spirit" whose power is plain for all to see.
The Agunechemba Operatives arrested him for several "illegal practices." The main reasons include:
He is accused of being involved in spiritual practices that break the law.
Authorities in Anambra have been cracking down on native doctors who supposedly help criminals or kidnappers by providing "charms."
The government now requires all traditional healers to register and follow strict rules to stop "money rituals" and violence.
There has been some confusion since the arrest. While the security team confirmed they took him in, some videos appeared online later claiming he was already free. However, the government has made it clear they are continuing to target any "native doctors" who they believe are causing trouble in the region.
This arrest is part of a bigger plan by the Anambra State government to stop ritual killings and improve security. They want to make sure traditional medicine is practiced safely and does not hide criminal behavior.
