Nigerian singer BNXN has fired back at American rapper Fat Joe following the rapper’s controversial claims regarding the origins of Afrobeats.

During a recent podcast, Fat Joe sparked backlash by asserting that Afrobeats originated in Jamaica. He further claimed that BNXN was forced to drop his former stage name, Buju, out of respect or pressure related to the legendary Jamaican dancehall artist Buju Banton.

Responding via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, BNXN didn't hold back, urging the rapper to "educate himself" on the history of African music before speaking on it. Taking the feud a step further, the singer mocked Fat Joe’s appearance, suggesting that his apparent resentment toward African music and its artists was beginning to take a toll on his physical looks.

He wrote, “The hate in your heart and your misinformation about African music and its artists is why your chromosomes are all f**ked up.
