Oba of Benin Backs Shallipopi for Landmark 10th Anniversary Performance

The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has officially commended Afrobeat star Shallipopi (Crown Uzama) for highlighting Benin culture through his music.

In recognition of his impact, the Monarch extended a special invitation for Shallipopi to perform at his 10th coronation anniversary this October. During the meeting, the Oba offered prayers and best wishes to the singer, even noting that Shallipopi has several fans right there in the palace.

A statement from the Oba’s Chief Press Secretary, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, confirmed that the Monarch deeply appreciates the singer's role in promoting their shared heritage to the world.

“in promoting the cultural heritage of Benin and admitted that some Shallipopi fans are also in his palace.”

Oba's Statement; “By the authority of all my ancestors and the power of almighty God, please do not let us down. We thank God for not letting us down. This son is in our palace, we shall continually put you in our prayers because of the way you are promoting Edo culture all over the world. Those who are bent on rubbishing Edo will have our ancestors to contend with.”

Shallipopi visited the palace alongside Jerry ID and his Pluto brothers. After paying his respects to the historic Benin throne, the music star shared a special moment by signing his autograph on the shirt of the young Prince, Idugbowa Ewuare
